When you fall in love someone but not able to confess your love to her because of your self-image and she is extremely pretty, in Cyrano De Bergerac play by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano is worried about his appearance because he has such an enormous nose. This is the most important of this play because some people are judging a book by its cover. Cyrano is a poet, swordsman and smart but he is really ugly outside. Opposite from Cyrano, Christian is really pretty, handsome but unintelligent and dull inside. They both love to the same woman called Roxane and become a rival. Roxane is a Cyrano’s cousin and she loves sweet things. She said to Cyrano, “ I… love someone.” (Rostand 62). “He is proud, noble, young, brave, beautiful” ( Rostand 64). She falls in love with Christian just because of his beautiful appearance.
When Christian asks Cyrano to write a letter for him, he said, “ Roxane expects a letter. Once I write, that ruins all !” ( Rostand 84). Christian needs Cyrano’s help because he is not smart enough to write a letter himself to give it to his lover and Cyrano agrees to write it for him.
