The characteristics of Cyrano are shown in the first scene set at a performance at the Hotel de Bourgogne. In this scene Cyrano had gone on the stage and challenge the actor, Montfleury, because he believed that the actor was not fit for the role. The actor was so afraid of Cyrano that he did not stand his ground and ran off the stage. As a prideful Gascon he stood up for what he believed in, even though that was not the only reason he did what he did. Regardless he was unafraid of making enemies. When everyone complained about the show being canceled, he even refund everyone’s money with his own cash leaving himself with nothing left to buy food to eat, stating how, “”what a gesture!”(Rostand 46) Then he give everyone a show by dueling
