5.1: Explain the importance of play to children’s learning and development and the need for an inclusive approach.
The relationship between play and learning seems obvious to many child professionals and parents, and yet there are still lack of understanding surrounding the importance of children's play. Some people believe that children need to "work" not play, and that playing serves no useful purpose in a learning and development environment. Positive relationships between child and childminder in which childminder show respect for the culture of children’s play and in which individuals are welcomed and valued.
5.2: Plan a challenging and enjoyable learning environment in the home that includes using everyday domestic routines and household items.
In order to make my setting a well Planned challenging and enjoyable learning environment in the home that includes using everyday domestic routines and household items, I have had to put in place a number of measures to ensure compliance with requirements of legislation covering home based childcare, and the role of regulatory bodies: These measures had to be in place in order for me to start my practice as a childminder. I am based in Rochester in England; Ofsted inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people. Their role and aim as a regulatory body is to promote and improvement the services they inspect and regulate, to benefit children, young people, parents and carers. To plan a challenging and enjoyable learning environment in the home which includes using everyday domestic routines and household items would be appropriate if one wished to become a childminder or care for children under the age of 8yrs, one will have to register with one of the UK's regulatory bodies by law. There is also a voluntary register for those that wish to work with children over 8yrs. Here in England Ofsted
