On my first day, I was taught how to sign ‘good morning’ to those children who communicate through signing. I was in a different class on my second day and during the register, one child communicates with her IPad so during registration, she gives a beep while the others in class speak back to the teacher. One boy was colouring a picture during the art lesson and he said it wasn’t very good, the TA in class asked him why he thought that and he said it was because he’s been told he can’t colour properly and is rubbish as he has a loose grip on the pencils when he colours. He had done a fantastic piece of work and the TA told him she thought it was brilliant and that he should be very proud of himself. This made the boy happy and said in disbelief “Really? Do you think so?” to which the TA said of course I do. This boosted his confidence and made the bond between them both
