Much Ado About Nothing is predominantly classified as a romantic comedy, though its genre is quite apparent there are moments, however where the play takes a cynical turn and specific characters display cynicism, though not explicitly. The play exhibits selfish motives that prove my claim, where status play a large role in marriage, and honor (playing with status) can pressure even the strongest form of love to shatter in seconds, though despite the presence of cynicism, there is still, however, innocence and tenderness displayed by specific characters. Characters are seen displaying a more cynical Point of view on the topic of love multiple times throughout the play, a clear example of this clearly exhibited in 2.1. executed by Leonato.
