The reading is timely for me in my current job! Between having a new special education Director, Cyndi Panko and watching the district handle the ongoing crisis, this course, and these readings are opportune. As I watch Cyndi endeavors to build strong relationships with parents, community, and other district administrators she applies many techniques described in both readings. I participated in a crucial staff conversation in which Cyndi terminated a contract employee's contract. During the conversation, Cyndi concisely and clearly discussed the issues and why the decision was necessary. When Cyndi was finished, the person thanked her. I feel very lucky to have her as my mentor.
