Even though there are multiple medications available over-the-counter or by prescriptions, researchers are constantly trying to develop antidotes to numerous illnesses in today’s society. Current research developments are extremely extortionate or lengthy when no significant results are accumulated. Therefore in my research, cost-effective methodology is used in trials to synthesize organic complexes. Organic complexes, such as vinylketenes and cyclooctynes are highly reactive reagents, and if successfully reacted, result in a major outbreak in the pharmaceutical industry. Vinylketenes are known to be extremely reactive, especially with alkynes in a cycloaddition forming a catechol. A catechol, being a derivative of a vinylketene and alkyne, share similar reactive properties, such as with living molecular complexes. Cyclooctynes are hydrocarbons that have a high reactivity; however, it is known to be reactive with itself. The characterization of cyclooctyne indicated the when …show more content…
This is due to the original goal of the methodology used in the reactions. The methods that were used in the reaction conducted was targeted to have notable conservation of solvents and recovery of unreacted chemical reactants in a reaction. The using of these methods would result in a more cost-friendly developmental phase in drug synthesis. The importance in reducing expenses for pharmaceutical companies during the synthesis of an organic complex is that it would lead to beneficial societal impacts. For instance, if the expenses of pharmaceutical companies decreases, the production of a specific drug might increase and result in a superfluous market resulting in individuals purchasing the medication at a lower price. In addition to individuals being able to afford the medicine, it would also give health insurance companies the ability to cover the prescription
