Thinking ten years ahead, what I anticipate a major change in the healthcare field to be would be the fact that we would be allowed to take work home. If this were to happen there would be a greater chance of HIPAA to be violated. This is because of a spouse or child of ours wanting to snoop through our work. Which will then lead me to the HIPPA law having to amended to fit the circumstances of medical workers having to take their work home. The effect it would have on me would be that I would technically be on duty 24 hours a day instead of having a 8-12 work day like…

After watching the video posted along with our discussion, "Prepping for prison" (2013), I would have to admit that this is a career that I would like to get into. I like the variety of challenges and military training posed throughout the Correctional Officers Training Academy (COTA). I feel that the different strategies taught and implemented would be very helpful to retain and utilize in any inmate to staff communication in this field whether it be positive or negative. I believe my personality is stronger than some females I have encountered over the years and I feel I am able to assert myself more dominantly if ever needed in any given situation.…

Over the past years, I have gained a better understanding of the rules, expectations, and support that the community shares. The general concept of the rules remained the same for a few years, however, this year, the community has enforced stricter rules due to the amount of trouble that was happening. There are four specific rules that members must follow, including: no fighting, show up for practice on time, a red or yellow card is not permitted, and you must show up to both practices in order to play the next game.…

The equipment is dilapidated as well as few compared to the constantly increasing number of inmates who are convicted daily by the justice system. The description paints a negative picture to the reader who has never had the opportunity to visit the facility. The facility is also understaffed since the number of trained personnel turnover is high compared to the other facility across the country. The experienced staff members are constantly transferred to other places, and this creates a crisis within the institution. When new guards are assigned to the correctional facility, they are inducted to the workplace by their colleagues who themselves have only spent only a few days in the institution, and this leaves many pitfalls in enforcing the policies of the facility.…

Stanford Prison Experiment What prevented "good guards" from objecting or countermanding the orders from tough or bad guards? The good guards were unable to object or countermand the bad guards because of the fear of what it would do to the guards’ authoritative role in the eyes of the prisoners. If they showed disunity as guards the prisoners could take advantage of the unstructured and create chaos within the walls of the prison. By objecting to the bad guards, they take the risk of the prisoners not taking the guards orders seriously.…

Pressing for Prison Reform The prison system is just as corrupt as the prisoners inside them. We live in a world where it is deemed acceptable to punish a criminal by taking away their humanity, and only release them when they find it themselves. We must reform the flawed prison system; only then can we correct the criminal way of life. Today, it is not uncommon to hear intrusive and abhorrent events that happen behind bars, including excessive violence, sexual harassment, health violations, and misconduct of legal power.…

The judicial system was buckling down on different drug offenses such as crack-cocaine, marijuana and opium. In 1985 marijuana was marked as the nation’s “number one problem” when it came to drug abuse. More people started using excessive amounts of marijuana since there was a decriminalization law. Eventually, it reached a high of sixty-four percent; programs and treatments were brought upon such as D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and G.R.E.A.T (Gang Resistance Education and Training). These programs were not just for adults, these were mainly targeted towards the youth so they will be pushed in the right direction.…
