Nine ways you can support a victim going through domestic violence. Number one, reach out to them. A person who is abused may feel scared, ashamed and alone. Talk to the person in private. Say, “I’m worried about you” and “I want to help.” Listen, don’t jump in with advice or assume you know what’s best. Let the person tell their own story. Say, “I believe you” and “You can talk to me.”
