Cyberstalking Research Paper

Cyberstalking is on the rise in the United States. It is just as serious as if someone was stalking you at your home or work. The problem with a cyberstalker is that you may not even realize you are being stalked until it gets too far out of hand. Also trying to catch a cyberstalker is more challenging than a normal stalker. The victim is a 15 year old girl that has was found by her cyberstalker on her Facebook page. This victim received a friends request and even though she did not know the person who sent the request she accepted. She had been having problems with her parents and had been posting comments on her page in regards to the problems she has been having. The victim did not know who the person was but would reply anyway with short responses. After about two months of the emails the predator started asking more personal questions about where she lived and when her parents would be home. The victim became weary of the person emailing her so she stopped responding. After about a week of not responding the emails became more intense and angry. She tried to ignore the emails but the frequency and intensity of the emails just grew. The emails eventually grew to threats. The victim finally decided to tell her parents about the emails she had been receiving. When the parents got involved they tried emailing the predator in order to try to get them to stop or to at least try to find out who the person was. The cyberstalker just got even more agitated and started making even more detailed threats that now included the family. The parents went to the police in order to let them try to find out who the cyberstalker was and hopefully be able to prosecute them. When the investigators investigated the accusations they had the victim give them access to all her accounts, email and Facebook. They were able to print out all of the messages that were sent
