Cyber bullying is most common during the teenage years. “Cyber bullying has recently emerged as a new form of bullying and harassment”.3 Text messages, phone calls, online chat rooms, emails, and social media are all used to cyberbully someone. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and many other social media websites are typically the most common form of cyberbullying. The bullies can use the social media websites to create anonymous profiles to target their victim. When the bully is anonymous, it’s a lot harder to find out who it is and how to get them to stop being a bully. There are numerous examples of cyberbullying. One example of cyber bullying is mean text messages or emails, which can become a point of harassment. By describing each type, maybe it will inform others of the importance of knowing the differences between each type. “The most common characteristic noted was that children who are bullied have a different appearance”.4 These victims are bullied because of the way they are dressed or the way they talk or act, and what the bullies don’t realize is that what they’re doing is physically and emotionally breaking that person down. Bullying is a whole lot more than just about taking someone’s lunch money or name calling and starting rumors. It’s also about how that’s going to change that person down the road later in life.
