In 2006, nearly 1 in 3 teens reported to being the victim of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a major problem that needs to be solved immediately. Cyberbullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of threatening nature. Cyberbullying can be approached by many different ways such as forwarding rumors and gossip through text messages or emails, by writing hurtful statements on a social media site or website, or even setting up fake user accounts to stalk, harass, or embarrass others (What is Cyberbullying 1). Individuals should be prosecuted for statements made on social media.

Cyberbullying is a serious problem in the world we live in now. With all of the technology and social media, anything can happen. Through social media, victims can be attacked on the internet without even knowing the aggressor face-to-face. In addition, “With cyberbullying, the aggression remains present online and can be viewed by anyone with access to the web” (What is Cyberbullying? 1). Cyberbullying has a traumatizing effect while bullying can be viewed by merely anyone. “As a result, the embarrassment, shame, and other more severe consequences of bullying can become even more severe” (Cyberbullying 1).
