These children lack the integrity and respect needed to build successful and ethical relationships with their peers. (Seider, 2012) These students specifically need to help understanding the virtues empathy and compassion. While most bullies are often victims of bullying themselves, they seem to lack the skill to understand how their actions make their peers feel. (Diamanduros et al, 2006) Similarly, victims of bullying often lack the virtue of courage to stand up to their bully. One would assume it would be easier to stand up to a cyberbully, being that you have the same keyboard that they have. However that is easier said than done. By having students share and discuss cyberbullying it brings it out of the virtual-world and back into the real-world. Students can see the person on the other end of the computer and have the opportunity to feel some compassion. Cyberbullies are not courageous. They hide behind the computer. It is time to shut that computer off. Force the bully to have some integrity and face their victims. It is also time to show that you don’t have to be a victim. The bully has feelings too. Once they are giving a chance to think about their own feeling, they will understand the impact they have on the victim. Hopefully that will help them to become a better person, and build positive relationships. (Seider,
