The only problem is that they probably do everything in secret. Either that or they only bully in front of others who will not do anything about the bullying. This makes bullies feel as if they have power over everyone else because nobody is saying anything to anyone. And the more time they go without getting caught, the higher their self-esteem and ego gets. And as their confidence gets built up, they take bullying to even higher levels. This in turn makes life much worse for the person getting bullied. Traditional bullying has been focused on for many years, but now it is time to focus on cyberbullying, especially since it can happen anywhere and everywhere. “The characterization of cyberbullying as offering victims “no space” (Juvonen 497). may come from the fact that kids can connect with cyberspace at school, home, anywhere else in between. As bullying in cyberspace starts, it can quickly escalate in ways that it cannot in traditional bullying. While there is no physical harm, the emotional harm being done can surpass the physical harm that would have been done. Besides, the name calling is still there. The exclusions and rumors are still there. These aides to bullying harm a child’s self-esteem and self-worth, and can lead to physical self-damaging.
