With technology advancing so rapidly it has become easy for the bullies, to bully their targets without fear. Today, a new form of bullying is facing the society that has progressed from physical to virtual; cyberbullying, and it happens every day. Our youth depend so much on acceptance, social networking apps, and texting that it consumes everything that they do. Unfortunately with cyberbullying there is no real way to identify who the culprit is, so the harassment and tormenting is done with no repercussions. Students who are victims of cyberbulling can develop behavioral issues, failing grades, depression, defamation of character, and even suicide. The schools, the parents, the community need to work together for the sake of our students. Our goal is to prepare out students to be college, career, and citizen ready. The following will address cyberbullying, character, and suggested steps to take in order to prevent and stop the bullying.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”- an old statement that is proven wrong by today’s society with the latest rise in bullying. A new form of harassment called cyberbullying is taking over schools, and destroying lives. Cyberbullying has become more common now and affects people of all ages; especially, those who are still adolescent. Their young age makes them more susceptible to the effects of bullying.
