Cyber Bullying Effect

A relatively new form of bullying has been occurring in recent years. Typically bullying is thought to be face to face, but it occurs online as well. Cyberbullying, as it is called, occurs at its worst to teens between the ages of 13 to 18 as they are moving through middle school and high school. It is destructive to their development into adults. These teens are not only going through the malicious bullying at school, they are also unable to escape it at home. The abuse follows them everywhere considering our constant access to internet and the speed in which information travels. Cyberbullying happens all over the world and Florida is no exception.

Not every bully intends to hurt others or necessarily realize they are. One of the bully types is the inadvertent bully, they tend to attempt to act tough online and may react immediately to something said online with angry and press send before thinking it over. “The Vengeful Angel” as it is called in the article doesn’t see themselves as a bully they may think they are just righting a wrong, in retaliation. The “Power Hungry” bully may just not like others, they tend to be smaller and may be picked on for not being cool enough, and they turn to the internet to frighten or embarrass their victims under the shield of anonymity. The last type is described as the “Mean Girls”, this type of bullying usually occurs specifically to provide entertainment. If we can determine the type of bullies it can lead to a specific way to deal with situation before it escalates to an irreversible level.
