A relatively new form of bullying has been occurring in recent years. Typically bullying is thought to be face to face, but it occurs online as well. Cyberbullying, as it is called, occurs at its worst to teens between the ages of 13 to 18 as they are moving through middle school and high school. It is destructive to their development into adults. These teens are not only going through the malicious bullying at school, they are also unable to escape it at home. The abuse follows them everywhere considering our constant access to internet and the speed in which information travels. Cyberbullying happens all over the world and Florida is no exception.
The effects of bullying extends far beyond a few negative comments. As Nuccitelli, explains, in his article “2012 Cyber Bullying Tactics”, the many ways bullying involves the internet. Specifically he talks about the tactics bullies use; for example; teenagers are bullied through exclusion, harassment, manipulation, degradation, cyberstalking and impersonation on social media, and these are just a few of the ways that cyberbullying can be such a problem. These techniques of harassing have shown extreme negative effects on those being bullied. Some teenagers can become depressed enough to take their own lives, it can simply ruins people.
