When the World Wide Web was invented, its primary purpose was to make sharing of research between universities and other facilities easier and more reliable (The birth of the web). Allowing a student to focus solely on a part of the broad system that they want to work with. Jobs looking for future IT Professionals are not looking for just degrees. Certifications such as CISSP and CompTIA have risen in popularity to show that job applicants have the know how to use what they have been taught in a practical way (What Is CE). With many jobs requiring such certifications, Cyber Security grew to be a highly specialized job market. Large businesses would not look at a recent grad with no certs. They want a graduate with a particular set of skills that fits their business
