The social media is one of the major sources that students use (Fig. 3). Facebook and Myspace are social media sites where students can post statuses and pictures, and their friends and other people can comment on them while having the ability to share their statuses. Everyone is allowed to message each other. Instagram and Twitter are where you can post pictures and add hashtags that go into a certain category while making a small caption along with it. Friends can add comments and tag their friends to other posts. There are also negatives such as where the cyberbullying comes in. People can tag others to a posts that are about their insecurity as an insult (Citron 2). People are able to make hateful posts about a stranger or a person they know to let out their frustration. “It also makes it easier to ‘forget’ what they’ve done and as they don’t see the harm caused, and any feelings of guilt or empathy are minimized” (Rodger). Others on this media site will pretend to be someone else so they can be hateful to others and get away with it (Kowalski 9). There are about 43 percent of victims who report that they have been called names, which is now rising to 57 percent of those claimed to be cyberbullied (Katz 43) Posting a status on social media will become world wide and will never be removed officially (Citron 57). The two types of depression are chronic and psychotic. Chronic depression is long term; this does not cause a major problem to the victim but is difficult to live with. Psychotic depression is where the victim starts to hallucinate and hear voices. They then become more difficult to communicate with. In severe conditions, becomes bedridden (“Types of Depression and Bullying”). Anxiety is also found in two different types; panic and anxiety disorder (Kahns). Panic disorder is when a person has unexpected panic attacks that are not due to certain situations, or about having another panic attack and avoid places where a panic attacked occurred before (“Panic Attacks and Panic Disorder”). Anxiety disorder is when a person suffers from depression, also has trouble concentrating, are tense and jumpy and restless or irritable (“Anxiety Disorders and Anxiety Attacks”).
