Introduction Cyber bullying can be referred to as the use of electronic devices to anonymously threaten any individual, but is most common among kids. These devices consist of cell phones, computers, tablets, and so on. For instance, cyber and traditional bullying in school are two of the most common areas where children have experienced such act. Children are not safe to use their technological equipment’s to send messages or to visit any social media because of an off chance that other kids will have the wrong intentions in mind. Neither are they safe to wander the halls without having an altercation with a bully. Mostly, the way some kids use their devices has cause technological advancement to be seen as a negative contribution.
Before one can go on and explore deeper into what cyber bullying is, it would be best to understand what bullying, also referred as traditional bullying, is. This form of bullying is the original model when compared to cyber bullying. According to Olweus (1994) bullying is when someone intentionally inflicts pain or harm to someone else again and again overtime, and the person being bullied on, the victim, is defenseless and unable to fight back. In other words, bullying confines to two individuals, one who is the victim and the other is the bully. In this scenario the bully harasses the individual in a negative manner repeatedly for a long period of time (p.97).
