CVS Health is in a strong position to capitalize on that growth by providing pharmacy benefit management and walk-in clinics operated by nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Retail clinics are a major part of this investment play as they are a significant growth driver in the industry due to their low cost, convenience and transparency. It is expected that the continued shortage of physicians in the U.S. will benefit retail clinics, which CVS is aggressively expanding; having more than twice the clinics as its closest competitor, Walgreens Boots Alliance. Furthermore, it is a lower risk investment in its sector due to its relatively nonexistent UK exposure, investor aligned management, stable balance sheet and increasing free cash flows. Its closest competitor is plagued with uncertainty brought out by internal and macroeconomic events, it recently lost their CEO due to institutional investors disagreeing with the way the company was being run.…

I am a registered pharmacy technician and have practised in community pharmacy for almost 6 years in the UK. The services that the pharmacy was providing were like where I had previously worked and all the standard operating procedures were similar. However, during the placement, I could see the pharmacist’s point of view rather than a technician and how the role of the pharmacist is different from that of a pharmacy technician. The pharmacist’s role was more focused on the clinical aspect, rather than just dispensing and ordering medication. I learnt how to recruit patients who are eligible for Medicines Use Review (MUR) and New Medicines Service (NMS).…

If anything, the company has far more strengths than weaknesses all revolving around supplying customers with affordable prescription and nonprescription medications, tobacco and drug free programs, youth programs in the community, pharmacy advisor and prescription maintenance programs, counseling programs (has over 10 million so far), Minute Clinic services (with over 1,100 locations), and a host of other advantages to get the company closest to the customer whether it be in the most convenient way, the most personal way, or even the most innovative way. On the company website, Walgreens states "Walgreens scope of pharmacy services includes retail, specialty, medical facility and mail service along with online and mobile services" ("About Walgreens," n.d.). The scope of the firm has been very focused on products and services. However, Walgreens would rather focus on its customers as well as products. As the aforementioned general environments, Walgreens should aim mostly for young customers in urban areas. Because Walgreens customers tend to be clear about what they plan to purchase and research online before coming in a store, Walgreens should inform its customers well via online source, such as Facebook and online reviews.…

A pharmacist is essentially the public’s portal to their needed medicine for their illnesses. The public relies on them for the access to the medicine that is not sold off the counter. This community’s main focus is on those who cannot function without their daily dosage. The only way the job can be successful is if the patient has a prescription from the doctor or else the medicine cannot be given. Healthcare insurance is extremely important as well because some families cannot afford to pay the full price and they will not be able to obtain their medicine.…
