To begin, CVS Health is an American health and retail company. The company has been previously named, CVS Corporation and CVS Caremark Corporation. CVS Health is headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. CVS Health has four subsidiaries, CVS Pharmacy, CVS Caremark, CVS Specialty, and MinuteClinic. CVS Pharmacy, the main CVS subsidiary, was founded by Stanley Goldstein, Sidney Goldstein, and Ralph Hoagland in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1963. CVS Pharmacy was originally bought by the Melville Corporation in 1969. CVS Pharmacy broke off from Melville Corporation in 1996, and created CVS Corporation. Later, in 2007 CVS Corporation Rx Caremark, the second largest prescription management service in the world, merged with CVS Corporation. As a result …show more content…
Working for CVS offers numerous benefits and advantages. Joining the CVS team opens an array of career opportunities and advancement. Managers at CVS Pharmacy work with, rather than above employees, to accomplish the same tasks. All store tasks done by front store associates are also done by managers and supervisors. Supervisors and clerk/cashiers function on the same level. Supervisors only possess more experience and training on dealing with unusual situations and communicating with Corporate management. CVS always opens up recruitment for new positions to colleagues first. This promotes growth and demonstrates the value of CVS colleagues. CVS offers cross-training in both front-store and pharmacy. CVS is open to all suggestions from colleagues because improving colleagues’ experiences improve customers as well. CVS also offers several awards to hardworking and compassionate employees, often with rewards, to recognize and encourage the best customer service. CVS Pharmacy offers competitive pay. They also offer medical, dental, prescription, and dental coverage. Next, select MinuteClinic services are offered at no cost to colleagues. CVS dedicates itself to promoting better health, so offers many wellness programs, better-health programs, and programs to help quit smoking. This would increase the sales of CVS and their control over the market. Lastly, CVS is facing some threats. Online sales are seriously threatening CVS. More and more people are beginning to receive their medicines though the mail from online companies. This would damage sales and their control of the market. Next, CVS faces stiff competition from Walgreens and Pfizer. This means that CVS must always compete with the actions of these major companies. Rather than doing what they want, CVS must do whatever is necessary to counter the moves of these large competitors. As mentioned above, CVS Health management seem to be handling the corporation well. The company has been doing well finically, handling issues effectively, promoting innovation and retaining customers. Next, CVS has been handling technological threats well. CVS employs large computer security teams and attempts to stay up to date with technology. They also spate many sections of computer information. Therefore, if one part were to be hacked the information obtained would be very limited and the hack maintained. They employ a large network of security. CVS has not had a large security breaches and is trusted by millions with personal, extremely private information.
