People are always going through something and we might not know, so it is important to, step back, think about what they need to hear and understand where they are coming from before we add our opinion. I will work on this habit by listening to understand instead of listening to answer. Often I find I listen in class and then I put my hand up and totally tune out what the teacher is saying in order to form my question or answer. I will also try and wait until the person is done talking and then after they have shared think about what an appropriate answer is, if it is even appropriate to answer. This is an important habit in terms of the Laurier program as we do so many projects as a class and presentations that we need to listen to what the person is saying and understand what they're trying to get across before we implicate ourselves into the situation. In the future this will be highly important because if you wish to be respected and heard yourself, you need to listen and understand first. If someone is nothing but rude to you, then the odds of you being friends with them is small. The same goes for respect and trust; if you show understanding and …show more content…
This habit wraps all of the habits up. Sharpen the saw means that it is okay to slow down for a second and take a break. Refreshing yourself, and stepping is allowed. Sometimes, like Noah said during the presentation we get so caught up in things that we forget to take a moment for ourselves and we end up over working. For example, we tend to over study and stress out. I know personally, once I had studied for four hours straight . I got to the point where I couldn't even look at my page anymore. I decided to go for a run and drink some juice and then, after I had sometime to relax and de-stress I returned back to my work ready to concentrate. This habit reveals the truth that being successful means understanding time management and understanding that priorities, goals and breaks are allowed and also needed to form a strong successful person. I think that this is a habit that I truly need to work on in my life. I think that when I have a lot on my plate I feel like I just need to “get it done” and it would be better to do it all at one time than to save it for later and work on it in pieces. I think that trying to do everything at once lowers the quality of my work as i’m more focused on getting it done than doing well and truly learning the concept. I will ameliorate myself in this habit as during the presentation Noah’s point about burning out and over-stressing really caught my attention. I will use my skills from Habit three to plan out my time
