You grip the ball by the seam with three fingers. The index finger is on the seam, the second finger is right next to it, and your thumb goes underneath. When you throw the ball you need to follow through all the way. The hand ends up right in front of your face with your palm facing you, and the fingers ended up pointing across your chest. If the fingers go forward the ball won’t curve because you have to flick your wrist and hand to get the spin on the ball. Here’s how it’s different from a riser. The riser is when you spin the ball backwards by flicking your wrist downward so the fingers are pointing downward, but they flick making the spin. It goes down and rises up just enough to where the batter’s bat might hit. To do a fastball your fingers need to all be lined up. You have to throw it with a lot of force. You follow through all the way and your hand ends up right in front of you with the back of the hand straight toward the …show more content…

" The change-up is such an effective pitch Maddux states, that it helps your fastball become a batter pitch because hitters can't tell the difference between the two until it's too late. Repeatable. Repeatable. So a baseball pitcher, if he throws a ball with the same speed and in the same direction, spinning the ball the same, it'll end up going about the same place.…

One example of the physics of baseball is when it comes into hitting the baseball. If you're trying to hit a fastball at 90 MPH your reaction time is going to be under .28 seconds. The sweet spot is the area on the bat that is right in the center of the barrel of the bat. Hitting the ball on the sweet spot of the bat will make that ball go farther. Velocity of the thrown ball will also affect how far and how hard the ball comes off of the bat.…

The Difference Between the Eras of Baseball “In 1936, in Cooperstown, New York five charter members: Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson were elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame” (History.com staff). Baseball has changed very much over the 86 years from the 30s to now. The salary of the players and coaches has greatly been inflated. The player ability and the everyday pitcher have changed very much, especially having a more balanced lineup now with 4 or 5 great players instead of 2 or 3 back then. The way the fans watch the game is also changing the 50,000 seat stadium compared to the few parks in the 1930s.…
