The Curtis Chamber Orchestra, played Violin Concerto No.1, No.3, and No 5. All three musical pieces consisted of unique characteristics, but I must say my favorite and the most memorable one is, Concerto No.1 in B-flat major, K. 207 with Hsuan- Hao Hsu on the violin. The downbeat, instantly caught the audience’s attention, bringing focus to the tempo and to its upbeat and joyful theme. It has a very charming and soothing sound to it, that creates more excitement, leaving the audience wanting more. The orchestra consisted of instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and flutes, that helped create an allegro moderato orchestral introduction. This being Mozart’s first Violin Concerto, it is very important that he begins his work in this way, showing progression in his creative career. It demonstrates the transaction between some of his first piano concertos, to his new development of mastering the art of the violin. This charming and energetic introduction then leads to the adagio movement; a slower flow. Hsuan- Hao Hsu violin solo then enters, taking a lead of its own, while the orchestra accompanies the repetition of the theme. To end the second part of this movement the violin solo soars in with full energy. The pitch starts off high, then higher, even more higher and then it slowly settles down.
