When these pharaohs died, their bodies were thoughtfully preserved by embalming. Intricate tombs were used to place the mummified corpses in. The mummified bodies of the pharaohs were surrounded with the riches that the pharaohs would need in their after life. The tombs were sealed with great care. Egypt’s greatest architects designed the tombs to resist thieves and in some cases used hard granite plugs. The plugs blocked the passageways. In other tombs, they used false door ways, hidden rooms and in a few cases, a cursed entrance to fool intruders.
In the 19th century, archaeologists became every interested in Egypt. They were interested in finding the crypts that had not been looted in older times. Archaeologists explored deep into the corners of the tombs, trying to find the still intact tombs and their riches. These archaeologists knew that the pharaohs, when they were buried, were surrounded by lots of cherished treasures that were artistic and very
