Current Bias
As a parent, the thought of an adult engaging in a romantic or sexual relationship with children triggers an emotional respond. I could say I feel disgusted and angry, but accurately I am fearful for my children. They are not physically or emotionally developed completely where they can consent to romantic relationships. Adults have an obligation to guide and protect them from any harm since they are innocent. As future social worker, I am conflicted and hesitant to work in partnership with a person that deviates from an adult, consensual relationship. My bias towards pedophilia can have a significant impact while practicing the social work profession.
