“You come for me and I’ll kick your God damn head off.” (Steinbeck pg. 62) In the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Curley is known for lines like these. Curley is the son of the boss on the ranch, but acts as though he is the boss. Curley represents evil and Curley is all talk.
As soon as we are introduced to Curley he comes off as a character that you do not want to mess with and acts rather evil. One of the first things that he says about Lennie is “By christ he’s got to talk when he is spoken to.” (Steinbeck pg. 25). This is Curley's way of showing that he is in charge and what he says goes. Later on in the story, we learn that Lennie has killed Curley’s wife. After hardly even thinking; Curley says “I’m gonna get him. I’m gonna get my shotgun. I’ll shot ‘im in the guts. Come on guys.” (Steinbeck pg. 96). This is pure evil on Curley’s part, he did not care too much about his wife. The main reason he wanted to kill Lennie was to get revenge for his broken hand and to get to take Lennie’s life!

But soon after this threat, Lennie fights back and all Curley can do is sit there and get his hand crushed. Another example of this is that Curley is always looking for his wife. He yells “Any of you guys seen my wife?” “Where the Hell’s Slim?” (Steinbeck pg. 53) Curley only says this to threaten Slim, because based on what we know about Slim, Curley would never mess with him. He only acts as though he would, to make himself seem more powerful and therefore

Some say Lennie is a monster, who kills things on purpose, others say he's just a man who doesn't do mean things for meanness, but everyone can agree that unless supervised, Lennie can be a menace. Lennie is a gentle giant, compared to a horse, dog, and bear in the book. And with his animalistic qualities, tends to hurt things and not understand the norms associated with his actions. Lennie, in a childish attempt to touch Curley's wife's hair in order to feel how soft it is, breaks her neck and kills her. Lennie didn't do it to actually hurt her.…
