In the book Of mice and men there are powers that outrank others and some act like they own the place even though they really don’t. For example there is a big difference between Curley and Crooks. There are other powers too like physical, financial, social and mental.
When george and Lennie first joined the crew, Curly was acting like he owned the place even though his father owned it. He was acting like he was the only one incharge and kind of sounded like he did just about nothing. Curley’s wife was always in his shadow, she never got to do anything. Curley always ordered her to stay in their house. Everybody around Curley’s wife never wanted to talk to her because they may have thought that he was going to beat someone up if someone talked
