The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Essay Mr. Boone is not completely evil because he has good intentions behind many of his misdeeds. He only wants what is best for Christopher. Mr. Boone accepts Christopher’s special needs and wants him to succeed in life. He helps Christopher a lot more than anyone else, even Judy Boone; Christopher’s mother doesn’t help Christopher as much. Although Ed Boone’s immoral actions were evil, the good intentions, helpfulness, and patience that he displays toward his son, Christopher proves that Mr. Boone is the evil figure with an ultimately good heart. He loves Christopher and keeps trying to get him back. Ed goes to Christopher’s school, the police station, and everywhere else trying to look for Christopher. When Ed finally finds out about Christopher’s where bouts (Judy Boone and Mr. Shears flat) he goes rushing there to get Christopher back. When he gets there Ed begs Judy to let him talk to Christopher and Judy finally let him talk to Christopher. Ed starts to beg and tear up in front of Christopher because Christopher rejected him and wouldn’t answer, “Shit. Christopher, please,” said Ed [And there were tears dripping of his face. And no one said anything for a while] [Page 197]. This shows that he is a really caring person and even Judy did not say a word then, knowing that he really meant the words and his actions showed it. Ed is really caring even though he loses it sometimes like when he thought that Mrs. Shears cared for her dog, Wellington, more than him. This led Ed to kill the dog, but he regrets it and explains why he did it. Although Ed Boone’s immoral actions were evil, the good intentions, helpfulness, and patience that he displays toward his son, Christopher proves that Mr. Boone is the evil figure with an ultimately good heart. Ed has helped Christopher throughout his life and has been through many other things that would make an average man lose it. He has lost two people he loved greatly, and almost lost his son, yet he still ultimately has a good heart. He has been there for Christopher;
