Imagine the world 1.5 million years ago. You are likely a homo erectus, hunting a mammoth colossal in size. You covertly stalk it with another of your tribe, gazing awestruck by its sheer size. Since you have not developed language, you rely on your powers of intuition and empathy with the other hunter. We have used these non-verbal and emotional forms of communication to understand eachother better for millennia. We higher primates have evolved with higher social intelligence, but also social intelligence. But in Mark Haddon’s “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time”, Christopher Boone was born with an imbalance of intelligences; such that he was academically outstanding, but socially lacking.
