How Parents Change for the Sake of Their Child

How could parents change to take better care of their children? Well, parents have the choice to change to adapt to handle their child’s behaviours by accepting their child’s behaviours and actions, or if they are not willing to change. This is what Christopher’s mother from the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon states “But that is not the way I am and there is nothing I can do to change that” (Haddon, 106) in a letter she sent to her son telling him she does not want to change, but she could if she put in the effort to. While Christopher and his parents from the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon display his parents changing

While Oskar was on his adventure to find out whose key he had found from the blue vase from his father’s closet, his mother tried to get closer to Oskar after his father died. His mother had taken a look at Oskar’s creative way of finding and meeting all the Blacks the key’s owner, while Oskar was out and before he met some of the Blacks his mother knew she should meet all the people he was going to meet for his safety. Also, his mother knew how to handle his tantrums. While his father was alive, his father played games and taught him about boroughs and geography. Without Oskar’s dad giving him the expedition or without his mom’s support and comfort, Oskar would not have been able to overcome his fears or even meet all the Blacks. Oskar’s parents knew they had to change in order for Oskar to reach his full potential.

In conclusion, Christopher and Oskar’s parents needed to change for both Christopher and Oskar to change into their own self and fully develop themselves. This is related to real life, this is like how our parents try to change for us because they change to try to accept our dreams of want we want to be when we grow up, but may not agree with our decisions so they would try to change. Also, if our parents did not try to change we would not have been able to have a relationship with them. Therefore, I think anyone could change if it is for the better or worse, they just need to put the effort to

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a play based on the novel written by Mark Haddon. It was adapted into a play by Simon Stephens and is currently being shown at the Gielgud Theatre in London. The first thing I noticed when entering the Gielgud Theatre was how big it was. The stage itself was very large, and was a proscenium arch, meaning that the audience faces the stage straight-on. The very unique thing about this stage was that the back wall was a giant cube-like math grid.…

In Mark Haddon’s novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, an attempt at the Bildungsroman genre is made, by employing many of the characteristics of this genre. Many argue that this novel is not a true Bildungsroman however, I will argue that it is, since it contains almost all of the key aspects of this genre, despite the slight twist near the end. I believe that this novel fits the genre of Bildungsroman and demonstrates the coming of age of Christopher through his various experiences in his hometown, as well as on his journey to find his mother. In this essay I will discuss the main components of Bildungsroman: emotional loss, a journey, and transformation and the way in which they are displayed in this novel through Christopher.…

The one time in the story when Oskar is completely honest with his mother, he tells her, "If I could have chosen, I would have chosen you!". He reveals that he would rather have lost his mother on 9/11 than his father. Obviously, this truth hurts Oskar's mother deeply, and it raises the question of whether or not absolute honesty is more important than consideration for another person's feelings. At the end of the novel, Oskar and his mother return from his father’s empty grave and Oskar goes to her room, crying. She comforts him, insisting that it was okay to feel sad about Dad.…

The world is full of many different books, but sadly not all of them can be considered “good.” A classic book is a book that a widespread group of people label as “good,” with an influence wide enough to be recommended by schools and colleges for their students to read. One of these such books is The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, except the fact that this book, while commonly loved by many, is on its own not a good piece of literature, as it is filled with a number of flaws such as an incomplete story line and a lack of character development. One of these issues is an irredeemable cast of supporting characters, as both Christopher’s father and mother show potential in the story to be interesting and enjoyable…
