Good afternoon Turquoise Justice! I’m Emma, and this is Kaelyn, and our article is about NASA’s Curiosity rover finding evidence of former lakes on Mars. The article came from NPR on Oct. 8. As some people may know, Mars is very frigid and dry, however the NASA Rover, Curiosity, has found evidence that there was once liquid on Mars. Around a billion years ago, Mars was cold, and wet. Curiosity has found geological evidence that liquid was evident on Mars approximately 3.5 billion years ago. John Grotzinger, a researcher at Caltech and chief scientist for the rover said, “The lakes may have existed for hundreds of thousands of years.” NASA has made two big announcements about finding water on Mars. In the first announcement made last week, scientists stated that the rover has found rocks on the surface that suggest there was once small amounts of salty liquid water that flowed on Mars. The second announcement released declared that the Curiosity rover has found …show more content…
It would be cool to be able to travel between two different planets and be able to live on both of them. Also, if we explore Mars, we can learn much more about the universe and how it works.
We thought that this article relates to what we’re learning in class, since we have been learning about immigration. Many immigrants didn’t know much about where they were going, just like how NASA isn’t quite sure what they were going to find on Mars. Some immigrants just wanted to explore what was out in the new land that was found. And once the immigrants got there, they discovered amazing things about the land, and learned how to thrive there. They made interesting discoveries about what was around them. This is almost the same as what NASA did. They used the Curiosity rover to explore new lands and made lots of remarkable
