Curfews Do NOT Reduce Teen Violence

Does a curfew reduce teen violence? Yes, having a curfew for teens does reduce violence because it keeps kids off of the streets, reduces teen homicide, and it would help kids be involved in their community in a positive. A curfew should involve everything being shut down at the same time. For example, the Plaza closes at 9pm for teens. A curfew would help keep kids off of the streets. It will keep them off the streets because of all the guns and all the deaths that are happening. There are a lot of drugs and gangs therefore the kids can end up getting involved too. Also the kids can end up getting into gangs and start selling drugs. The streets is no place for kids they will end up dead or in jail. Teens have better stuff to do then sit in jail or be dead. “Of those, 88% said curfew enforcement helped make streets safer; 83% said curfews helped curb gang violence. “ Therefore, a curfew would be the right choice to keep kids off the streets. “While it's true that curfews in other cities have sometimes successfully reduced crime, many feel they are unnecessarily restrictive and discriminatory against teenagers. They also don't address what may be the root cause of teen crime, which is a general lack of things to do.” People also do not like teen curfews because what if a place opens after curfew and then the teen cannot go but if they go they could get into trouble. For example, what about about a late movie? But, if it is a late movie the teen could always get it on Redbox. In conclusion, there should be a curfew because it keeps kids off of the streets, reduces teen homicide, and it would help kids be involved in their community positively.
