Curfews, they're becoming a hot topic of debate across the nation. Even our city counsel is caught up in it by considering a 10 P.M weekday and midnight weekend curfew for teenagers. Yet as with every debate, they are facing stern opposition. However, I feel that those opposing the curfew are overlooking the fact that this system curfew will fix severe community problems. Setting a curfew would keep teens safe from dangerous nighttime conditions, exhaustion and criminal activity common at these late hours. First off, night hours can be very dangerous, every driver can tell you that. In fact, I surveyed drivers at random with a near constant response. Which leads to my next point, animals and temperatures at night can be dangerous. Proven by the fact that my earlier story could have easily been told differently by my father. Next, the problem of exhaustion. It can be fatal, lack of sleep hurts the growth of teenagers. Exhaustion also carries a heavy affect school performance. For instance, a friend of mine often sleeps in class due to his night job. Sleeping through lessons crushed his grade and made him have to retake the class. Tired people also make poor choices, you're just not awake enough. Often people speak aggressively when they're tired. Quite regularly saying things they do not mean and regretting it later. Also, with awareness already a problem with teens it should be our duty to prevent is from being combined with exhaustion. Last but not least, teens get in trouble quite a lot. Young people are prone to make mistakes, they just don't have the experience to make good judgment calls sometimes. However, teenage crime spikes along with other crime during the night. Making lawful teens unsafe as well. Statistics even show that nearly 40% of all teenage kidnappings happen at night. If they are unlucky, sometimes they are mistaken for criminals just just by being in the wrong place
