Cupid is the son of Venus and Mercury. Venus is the goddess of love and Mercury is the messenger of the Gods.( Encyclopedia Britannica) Most Roman Gods had a temple built for them where they could live, but Cupid did not since he was always going around helping people fall in love. .

It starts out when Venus, the mother of Cupid, got jealous of Psyche’s beauty and ordered Cupid to punish the mortal Psyche. But then Cupid fell madly in love with her instead. So he ended up marrying her, but there's was a problem, she was a mortal and so she was forbidden to look at him. Psyche's sisters were being nosey and persuaded her to try and look at Cupid. She did get a look at his face but he saw her and he punished her by leaving her and and when he left everything of theirs was gone. Their garden, their castle, everything. He left her alone in a field where no other humans were there, not even Cupid. Eventually Psyche came across the temple of Venus and since Venus was out to destroy her she gave her many tasks each harder than the last. One task was to take a box to the underworld and take some of Pluto's wife's beauty. But she was curious and opened the box and fell into a deep slumber instead of finding beauty.
