Cummins Incorporated is a worldwide well-known manufacturer of diesel engines. It supplies its products to North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, China, Korea, Japan, Latin America, India, Russia, Southeast Asia, South Pacific and Mexico. This publicly traded corporation employs around 55,000 people, who do not only create high-quality diesel and natural gas engines, but also design, distribute and sell engine-related products (1). On the top of that, Cummins provides service of its engines and interconnected components, such as filtration, turbocharger, emission solution and air handling. Principally, the company is divided into four business segments, which are diverse but supplementary; Cummins Engine Business, Cummins Power Systems, Cummins Component Business, and Cummins Distribution Business (2).

Clessie, as a self-taught mechanic and originator, was indispensable for Irwin because he not only drove Irwin’s family members when needed, but he mainly repaired any mechanical devices and engines in Irwin’s garage. With the war outbreak, Clessie Cummins received an opportunity to manufacture wagon hubcaps for the American army (5). Consequently, Clessie heard about engine from Netherland called HVID (6). He became noteworthy because these engines operated on diesel, a cheaper fuel than gasoline. With Irwin’s financial support and obtained licensed from HVID Company, the Cummins Engine Company was founded on February 3, 1919 in Columbus, Indiana
