Have you ever caught yourself allowing your mind to become an excellent servant but a terrible master? The most valuable lesson that I have learned in my life thus far is the notion that the quality of life that I live is dependent upon the way that I choose to think. The Great Depression was a time of hardship for many Americans. Many historians agree that without the interference of World War II, we never would have gotten out of the depression. Many novelists, artists, and musicians have attempted to capture the spirit of these desolate and gloomy days, but perhaps no pieces of art are more successful at this goal than Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. This novel was written in 1937 and follows the story of two migrant workers, Lennie and George, who arrive and begin work at a farm in Salinas Valley, California. The culture of Astute, just like anywhere else, is initially one of the most prominent and obvious aspects of the organisation and is equally important to the individuals within it. For instance, the website has an entire page dedicated to outlining the culture of the company relying upon the old adage of ‘work hard, play hard’ as is the nature of many sales companies; “For us to laugh together only makes our team stronger and I find that my team return to their projects with renewed energy, ready to function in the best way that they can for our clients” (Astute, 2016).
