Malaysia is a one of the multi cultural country. Cultures have been meeting and mixing in Malaysia since the very beginning of its history. More than fifteen hundred years ago a Malay kingdom in Bujang Valley welcomed traders from China and India. Malaysia's cultural mosaic is marked by many different cultures, but several in particular have had especially lasting influence on the country. Chief among these is the ancient Malay culture, and the cultures of Malaysia's two most prominent trading partners throughout history--the Chinese, and the Indians. The parents is holding the higher power in certain family matters, where their children’s is still can take decision for that matters. It is makes the children’s to feel low power and distance in the relationship.

The other reason of power distance among the people in Malaysia does not matter whether they Malay, Chinese or Indians, is the rank or title that they had. The titles like Datuk, Tan Sri, or Tun is making distance and powerful among society. Even they are same like other peoples in Malaysia but the title they had give them authority and also centralised decision making power.

In a collective culture, personal needs are less important than the group's needs. This dimension influences the role government is expected to play in markets. A society's position on this dimension is reflected in whether people’s self-image is defined in terms of “I” or “we.”
