Cultural differences are considered important for IHRM as they influence the functions of recruitment, training and conflict management in an organization in the context of its norms and values (Crawley, Swailes and Walsh, 2013). Work of Hofstede, Hall, Trompenars, Hampden- turner and House et al focuses on how perceptions and values influence the way people interact and react with each other in organizational context.

U.S has a very masculine society where individuals live to work and perceive success in life as meeting work goals and getting rewards. Other examples of Masculine societies can be Japan, Austria and Germany. On the contrary, Feminist society’s key determinants are the quality of work life, male and female members of the society are equally career oriented. Countries that could be considered as having feminist society are Denmark, Thailand and Sweden (The Hofstede Centre, 2011).India being opposite to U.S has low scores of masculinity. The Recruitment policies or manager’s preferences are more discriminated on the basis of gender as female employees are not perceived as efficient as their male counterparts despite the good performance. Key features in individuals who belong to long-term orientation society are persistence and the ability to adapt to new changes whereas short-term orientation in a society refers to the society that focuses on past and present, focuses on quick results, gives importance to leisure time, time-honoured tradition and suspicious of change (Hofstede,2001).
