This breaks the very foundation of heteronormativity and helps lead us in forgetting of such norm. Many people who are homosexuals, bisexual and transgender lose themselves and are forced to inhabit the heteronormative view just to feel accepted. Western culture is so influenced by heteronormativity that it affects the very language that we speak. At birth you can be only two genders that a doctor can specify; male or female. (Anne, 3).
