Culturally Responsive To Other Students: Case Study

The purpose of this case study is to understand how science teachers relate culturally responsive to “other” students. According to this case study “other” is identified by understanding the cultural system in which a group of people lives consequently Whites and people of color (Africans, African Americans, Asians, Asian Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans). Before the participants were stated, The authors did a review of pertinent research over culture, race, ethnicity, social class, intersections among Culture, Race, Ethnicity, and Social Class as well as Beliefs, Attitudes, Culturally Responsive Teaching and Understandings. The researchers decided to study participants with completely different cultural backgrounds who are in an alternative teaching program. The participants were in a large group but only highlighted two within the case study. The first participant Anna was a 24-year-old Caucasian female who went to predominately white middle-class school with few Hispanics and blacks from kindergarten - 2nd grade. From 3rd grade- 12th grade, Anna went to a school where she was a minority( 95% Black, 3% White and 1% Hispanic and 10% Asian).
