1. The most important thing I learned while reading these chapter was about The Globe Study. The primary focus for this study was the belief about outstanding leadership based on Culturally Endorsed Implicit Leadership Theory. Where nine dimensions were identified and then measured across 62 cultures. In addition, the six behaviors described for outstanding leaders as perceived by the participants. As I was reading I understood more about how leaders are perceived throughout the peers and how one might be perceived as a follower as well.
2. One thing I have observed whether it was at work, school, or at events around in the community were some role model values. At work and school I have seen the role of teamwork. Especially now, at work that

“Charismatic leaders are highly motivated to influence their followers.” After reading this sentence I knew it had applied to me. Back when I was the president for the Matador Ambassador program. I remember toward the middle of the semester my fellow ambassadors where less movitatived, did not want to participate in events or tours as often. After notice this I remember sitting down with a few of them and asking, “What’s going on” some said that the just had no time, while others mention they were not interest/motivated in participating anymore. I asked if they had any suggests on how we could make it more interesting after getting a few responds back, later that night I went home to think on how to motivate them while taking their comments into consideration. After that, we came up with a solution we decide to do an end of the year trip. Something the Ambassadors could look forward to at the end after their hard work. Nothing to fancy, but it got the job done. The rest of the semester the students were highly motivated and overall were excited to continue in the program.
4. After reading the chapter the one thing I would take from the most is the whole concept of charisma. I have learned that charisma is very important characteristic to have in order to be an authentic leader. Although, one has to be careful because too much charisma can lead to too much power over the followers. As well, as vice versa the followers can take advantage of the leader. Although, after reading this chapter I have learned I need to work on my charisma if I want to a proactive and influential

Character, communication, focus, initiative, listening, self-discipline, and vision are just a few of the many leadership traits named in the book. One trait that seemed discussed a lot to the reader in both the book and the text was Charisma. According to The EMS Leadership Challenge: A Call to Action, Charisma is “about giving people hope and making them believe in themselves and a vision. It is about projecting hope and sharing oneself with others” (Waite, 17). As stated by Developing Management Skills, Charisma is “ (1) the ability to inspire followers with devotion and enthusiasm; (2) an attractive aura, great charm; (3) a divinely conferred power or talent” (Whetten, 289).…

This is where we need to be more conscious of just why we are in leadership. The best motivation is service rather than supremacy. It is to be focused on helping others rather than enhancing our own self-esteem. My challenge as I reflect back on the original reading is to make sure that I am thinking of what I can contribute rather than consume.…

In Habitudes #3, Dr. Elmore explores how leadership produces health and vitality to others. Dr. Elmore begins his exploration by establishing through an image of a mirror that a leader’s followers will reflect his strengths and weaknesses. As a result, Elmore shares images of a river and a flood, a drill bit, and a man duck hunting. Through these images, Elmore contends that a leader must provide focus much like a river bank channels the water downstream. In addition, a leader must keep the big picture in sight, and is selling results to those who are following him.…

Introduction The three most important concepts I picked from chapters 3-4 are Courage, Wisdom, and Integrity. Three Concepts My first concept of courage, our book has many definitions of courage as well as categories but what I like how are book defines courage as being related to your heart, your mind and your thought. When you couple courage with a resilient leader, this displays someone who shows nothing but quality because a good leader will display courage and people who see leaders with good courage often will follow them and want to learn from encouraging people.…

Almost everyone in a position of leadership had someone they looked up to while finding out who they were as a leader. In my case, I have always looked up to my old football and wrestling coach. I interviewed him for this paper and asked him a couple questions about his leadership style and how he became a leader. I have always respected Coach Mac ever since I was a freshman on varsity. The thing he praises most as a leader is accountability, and just learning what went wrong or right in the situation, and learn from it.…

To start with, all transformational and then charismatic leadership needs to be “good enough” to be able to improve organisational performance. In the language of “socialised and personalised” charisma, it has to start off as sufficiently “socialised” for the authority base to develop; for the person to receive promotion; for the individual to develop the Weberian distinction and exceptionality required as a charismatic prerequisite. The development of “bad” charisma from “good” is driven by adverse contingencies. These contingencies can be in two main areas – firstly related to the business environmental context, and secondly related to the personality of the charismatic…

“Diversity represents a company’s fundamental attitude that it not only respects and values the individuality of its employees but also understands how to tap the potentially significant contributions inherent in diversity” (Human Resource, 2011). Great leaders instill messages of commitment to diversity and inclusion outside of oratory. Several top leaders (CEOs) have made diversity precedent in their strategies to cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion in their organizations’ practices. Over the years, it has become clear that the presence of cultural differences in leaders has been the underpinning of the most successful organizations. When comparing the reasons why most executives want to increase diversity in their organizations,…

Introduction The Daodejing or the Tao Te Ching, the work of the ancient Chinese sage Lao Tzu or Laozi dates back to the late 6th century BC according to some counts and to the late 4th century BC according to others. We can thus safely say that this “Book of the Way” was written in a period well before our times. However, when one reads the interpretations of this book by John Heider and other modern translators, one finds that the teachings are as relevant today as they were then, or, to be honest, more relevant today than they were then. In the 21st century, the most sought out trait in any individual, apart from communication, is the ability to be a leader.…

Both Sumner (1959), and Durkheim (1915/1968) share similar view. Sumner states, that because of the difference in purposes between spirituality and business, they have never been successfully associated. Durkheim (1968) stated, “the sacred and the profane cannot co-exist in the same place” (pp. 344-349). A more graphic representation was by Metcalfe (2008), referring to the relationship as a fearful prospect if spirituality sets up tent with businesses; which he terms as irrational, manipulative and insane. Drawing from their discomfort with the integration of spirituality with business, one is left to question, in which environment and organization, is the leader with spiritual attributes most suited and in what context could it be implemented.…

Charismatic leaders create a comfortable and welcoming environment using their charisma and social skills. They give their employees the feeling that their opinion matters and gives them confidence to speak up by listening to what they have to say. Lindsey shows this by taking the time out of her busy schedule to mentor her employees in a welcoming and judgement free environment, allowing them to speak their minds openly and honestly. An era of leadership which she would not fit into very well is the culture era. In the culture era employees, provided with the right culture, will be self leaders.…

However followers and leaders should share a mutualistic relationship where all members work together to play their individual part. I learned that there are many different types of followers and the best followers seem to be emerging leaders. While these followers may have learned these abilities by their self the leader should use their transformational leadership skills to foster the follower and enhance abilities to possibly one day take the leaders spot. This way not only can he or she play the role of a follower especially well they can also step up and be the leader if need be. I think that shows how the different types of leaderships are entangled.…
