The curriculum needs to also be responsive and respectful to
students cultural knowledge structures and practices. As a pre service teacher i would explore and
research the local people within my community. I would organise to have an appointment with a
representative and ask appropriate questions about the local indigenous ways and knowledge.
This will make me feel more confident when incorporating indigenous knowledge to my students
classroom. I feel that this would help me apply appropriate teaching methods to students with an
indigenous perspective. I will also use teaching support materials from the living knowledge project
which is accessible online to incorporate relevant teaching structures and practices within my
