Cultural Themes Given that, Hannah has had lots of issues in her life, she still managed to get through the break up by playing her music, writing and drawing art. In the film Hannah expresses that when performing her talent, it gives her a peace of mind. During the school musical, she and her fellow band members set out to entertain their school and they did so by letting their emotions flow through the music. Being an independent woman did not happen overnight but it took self-reliance to help improve her confidence. Although her parents are not there to comfort her through everything, Hannah’s father takes the initiative to support her by taking her to school and having dinner to talk everything over.
