Cultural Relativism In Do The Right Thing By Spike Lee

“Do The Right Thing” by Spike Lee is a film produced in a lower class neighborhood in Brooklyn,New York.The film is about the struggle and criticism people of color face in their every day life as they try to survive.The film also proves that people of color who makes it out the ghetto have to choose between class at a certain point of time.The sociological concepts I choose to apply to this film is Cultural Relativism, Discrimination, Gender Inequality, Race, and double consciousness. Females are discriminated in the work force a lot. This type of discrimination leads to gender inequality. Gender inequality has no definitive definition but I would define gender inequality as the unfair treatment of someone based on their gender. I think that Gender inequality is a huge issue in America today because some females do not receive the job opportunity as a CEO or a manager when they are qualified.Females are also less likely to be promoted at work than men and that is absurd to me!
