Living in a nation or society with dissimilar values, beliefs, habits, language, and behaviors for some it is hard. They feel it will corrupt their own beliefs and behaviors tainting the purity of their values and cultures. Some cultures believe this so strongly they turn to violence and genocide. Then there are some, that believe in their cultures and values but they are willing to learn and accept ways of others’ beliefs and behaviors. The United States is a multicultural country however it ranks in the middle, somewhat more diverse than Russia but slightly less diverse than Spain. By understanding how each plays a role in the making of society. we know that multiculturalism is various cultures, i.e. religion, racial, cultural behaviors, and cultural thinking co-existing in a nation or population of people. Structural functionalism is a category of sociology that looks at and address society as a whole in the way it function in traditions, customs, and the norms. It looks at society as a complex system whose moving parts works together to promote solidarity, order, function and most important stability. If society is various cultural and these various cultural are contributing to stability, society is maintained, therefore society is in harmony. This works because all the part are working together. Once there is an interruption or a break down in the moving parts. The part has either to be replaced or eliminated. All this is to maintain the stability for the whole. Normal human nature is the problem, social organization, society, and culture is what keeps people from destroying themselves along with
