Cultural Insensitivity In American Comedy Movies

Cultural insensitivity is shown when we Americans use slang such as, give me a ballpark number. Or when words such as ain’t are used. Internationally other cultures won’t know what we mean, unless they grew up in America. Ain’t is not a good word to use because it shows bad grammar. When there was a foreign exchange student from Brazil at my high school, I said, “I have goosebumps”. He didn’t know what goosebumps were and I had to explain to him it’s what happens when you’re really cold. Professor Choi also explained how American comedy movies don’t go well in other countries.
