A cultural icon is a person who represents the positive image of a country across the world, serving as an ambassador and making sure that the right image of their country is demonstrated. Benazir Bhutto was one such icon for many people to follow. Born in a political family, Benazir saw her father as a role model from the very beginning. Benazir’s father, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto served as a Prime Minister of Pakistan. Z.A Bhutto was a man of nerves, and served the country well, and worked hard for the lower-class people. Benazir got it all from her father and continued the legacy. She studied at Harvard and did her undergraduate degree in bachelors of Arts, governance being her major. She didn’t stop there, and went for another degree at the famous Oxford University. There she did an undergraduate program in Philosophy, politics and economics. Her extracurricular skills were very sharp as well. She was elected as the president of the debating society at Oxford. It will be right to say that from there on wards, a glimpse of what Benazir was capable of could be seen. “She was a child of privilege, and took the mantle of power from her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the fiery and magnetic founder of the Pakistan People's Party, who himself would become a martyr for democracy when he was executed in 1979 by the military dictatorship of General Zia-ul-Haq” (Howard Chua-Eoan). Benazir saw her father struggle for the betterment of the democratic system and from there Benazir picked herself up to help her father in politics. Benazir was just 26 when she saw her father, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto being sentenced to death and that left the people of Pakistan and the whole Bhutto family in shock, but Benazir being the only daughter, was badly affected. She picked herself up from there and then never looked back while carrying the message of her father to the people of
