Cultural awareness is a set of skills that allows a person to objectively understand and interpret other cultures. Everyone has their own unique perspective on life, including which values, customs, and beliefs to adopt. Being able to identify and understand someone’s culture is the first step in communicating effectively. Cultural awareness is crucial in a global world, where various cultures have wildly different ideals.
Selection of Event or Meeting
For the cultural meeting, I decided to meet with Mani Bhattar, a Hindu priest with the goal of building a temple in Charlotte. On November 29th at 7:00 pm, I attended the evening puja, or prayer, hosted by Mani. The prayer service was held at Trimurti Temple Devasthanam. At the time, there were a few Hindu worshipers using the shrines that Mani has created. Currently, there is just a house which Mani offers as a temple. However, the Trimurti Temple organization has been active for the past 5 years working to build a temple for the community in traditional Indian architectural style.

I’ve met a variety of people, through moving to new towns, and reaching out through the community. Learning to appreciate the differences in cultures has shown me new Through this, I learned the value of hard work and independence young. As a child, I was encouraged to make my own judgements on religion and faith. However, in America, people have easy access to all the basic necessities in life. Despite any hardships, I was still raised in an environment where free education, food, and civil liberties exist. With that in mind, I have always strived to make the world a better
