One will see children, businessmen, homeless, street performers etcetera. The thing that separates all these people are their races. There are people who are Indian, Vietnamese, Asian, and Italian. Another aspect I noticed in my experience was the amount of different languages that were floating in the air. Everyone is speaking in their own personal way of communication. For instance, I heard English, Spanish, French, and Hindi. This absolutely amazed me because I’m mainly used to mainly hearing Spanish and English. Broad Street introduced me into a brand new experience with languages. The variety of people makes one feel like they have traveled to a different country. Typically when there is a mass of people, there is always something that is bringing them together. In this particular case it was food. As I walked down the street I saw, or rather smelled, the essence of food seeping from the restaurant doors. There are many different kinds of restaurants available at the choice of many. For instance, there are American foods, Indian foods, Asian foods, and Chinese foods. This may have been the most exciting aspect of my entire experience. It is great to see how far the world has come from segregation and cultural judgement. Cultural diversity allows many different ideas and people to come together to form a whole that is far greater. Broad Street defiantly promotes cultural diversity because it displays multiple aspects of the world. Cultural diversity may give you a different viewpoint, and different perspectives about other races. It is becoming clear that in order to build communities that are successful, we need to understand and appreciate many cultures, establish relationships with people from cultures other than our own, and build strong unions with different cultural groups. Cultural unity and diversity needs to go beyond Broad Street, it needs to be generated everywhere. America is making progress towards developing a fully culturally diverse environment for everyone and anyone to feel comfortable.
